Royal Albert Hall Organ Works

Project Formation of new kiosk beneath organ supports
Client Royal Albert Hall
Project Manager Taylor Woodrow Construction Limited
Architect BDP Building Design Partnership
Structural Engineers BDP Building Design Partnership
Location Kensington, London
Programme 7 weeks

Our structural and high class finishes experience was contracted to create a new kiosk beneath the listed organ blow chambers.

It was our management's proven track record on the award winning work for "The Corporation of the Hall of the Arts and Sciences, Royal Albert Hall" and BDP Architects that helped us secure this prestigious project.

The works involved:

  • Design and installation of temporary works to the organ blowing chamber and flutes.
  • Careful protection from dust and debris to the listed organ.
  • New curved structural steel beams inserted to support the organ and walls.
  • Construction of new structural support walls.
  • High class joinery finishes, panelling and bespoke made doors and frames.
  • Specialist decoration finishes including oak graining and stencilling.
  • New floor tiling to match the existing Victorian mosaics.
  • Restoration and new fibrous plasterwork.

Our previous experience working for the Royal Albert Hall and working closely with English Heritage ensured a timely and successful completion to this project to the satisfaction of everyone involved.
